Hollow Bar

Hollow rods are metal rods with a central hole running the entire length. These rods are extruded from forged rods and then cut into the desired shape.

The characteristics and properties of hollow rods are suitable for subsequent processing into a variety of hollow products and cylindrical components for general engineering purposes. Carbon and alloy steel hollow rods are usually supplied in circular cross-sections, but are also available in other shapes.

Hollow rods save raw material costs and processing time. In many cases, it is possible to select a hollow bar whose outer diameter and wall thickness closely match the finished dimensions of the part to be machined.

GNEE offers grade 4140 and 4340 alloy steel hollow bar conforming to ASTM A519M or equivalent specifications in a variety of conditions, typically quenched and tempered, but also available in annealed or as-rolled conditions depending on the specific application.

Stainless steel hollow rods are suitable for applications where corrosion is a concern and where it is more economical to use hollow sections than drilled solid stainless steel rods.
