Manganese is a non-magnetic steel with excellent wear resistance. Manganese steel plates are ideal for applications where abrasion, impact or lubrication is difficult and where the work-NMened surface does not affect the retention of internal toughness.
Manganese steel has a low coefficient of friction in metal-to-metal applications and can also be used to repair scrap. Primarily used in the manufacture of iron fences for prisons, but now commonly used in the manufacture of safes, bulletproof cabinets and anti-drill plates.
