A572GR50 h beam W40x235 W40x264 steel structure
W40x235 W40x264 w shape beam specifications
W40x235 w wide flange beam: "W40" means the section height of the steel is 40 inches (about 1016 mm), "235" means the weight per foot is 235 pounds, which is about 349.5kg/m when converted to meter weight.
W40x264 w shape structural steel: The section height is also 40 inches (1016 mm), the weight per foot is 264 pounds, and the meter weight is about 393.9kg/m.
Material properties of A572GR50 h beam structure
A572GR50 h shaped beam is a high-strength low-alloy niobium-vanadium structural steel, and its chemical composition mainly includes carbon (C) ≤0.20%, silicon (Si) ≤0.40%, manganese (Mn) ≤1.50%, phosphorus (P) ≤0.04%, niobium (Nb) 0.005% - 0.05%.
A572GR50 h shaped steel has good weldability, toughness and fatigue resistance, yield strength ≥345MPa, tensile strength between 490 - 600MPa, and elongation between 22% - 35%.
Mechanical properties of A572GR50 h section steel
Based on the material properties of A572GR50, W40x235 and W40x264 steels have high strength and can withstand large loads.
Under the same conditions, W40x264 steel has a greater load-bearing capacity and stiffness than W40x235 steel due to its heavier weight, relatively thicker and wider cross-sectional dimensions, and smaller deformation when subjected to stress.
At the same time, both types of steel have good toughness and impact resistance, and can ensure structural safety under complex stress conditions. For example, under dynamic loads such as earthquakes, they can absorb energy through their own deformation and reduce structural damage.
Processing performance of A572GR50 h section beam
Welding performance: A572GR50 material has good weldability, and W40x235 and W40x264 steels are easy to connect to other structural components by welding. For thicker steels, such as W40x264, proper preheating is required during welding, and the welding process parameters are controlled to ensure welding quality.
Cold processing performance: Cold bending, cold drawing and other cold processing are possible. When cold processing W40x235 and W40x264 steel, the processing degree needs to be controlled according to specific requirements to prevent problems such as cracks.
Hot processing performance: It performs well in hot processing such as forging and hot rolling. Hot processing can improve the internal structure of steel and make the performance more uniform. For W40x235 and W40x264 steel, hot processing helps to improve processing accuracy and surface quality.
