Mild Steel Structure H Beam SM490
SM490 hot rolled steel is a structural steel grade specified by the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS G3106), "SM" stands for "structural material" and "490" indicates a minimum tensile strength of 490 MPa.
The chemical composition of SM490 structural steel typically includes: Carbon (C) ≤ 0.26%; Silicon (Si) ≤ 0.55%; Manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.60%; Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%; Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035%, which are carefully balanced to ensure optimal mechanical properties and weldability.
SM490 steel has specific mechanical properties, tensile strength ≥ 490 MPa; yield strength ≥ 235 MPa; elongation ≥ 22% (thickness < 50mm), which indicate high strength and sufficient ductility.
SM490 H-beams can be easily processed using traditional methods such as cutting, welding and machining, and have a higher yield strength than SS400 grades, which has better performance in heavy-duty applications.
To improve corrosion resistance or enhance appearance, GNEE can apply surface treatments such as painting, galvanizing or powder coating to the SM490 h shaped steel beam.
