Products Description

 

1, the standard formulation party is different

A36 is the material of American standard ASME standard (equivalent to ASTM specification), SS400 is the material of Japanese standard JIS G3101(rolled steel for ordinary structure), and Q235 is the material of national standard GB/T700 standard.

2, the content of Mn element in A36 is not used because of the thickness of the plate (or the diameter of the round steel), and the content below 20mm does not contain Mn. Q235 requires the content of C, Si, Mn, S, P and other elements, but SS400 only requires S and P to be less than 0.050, and other requirements are not made. Chemical composition of the three:

①Q235 grades A, B, C, D (GB/T 700-2006)

Grade Q235A contains C 0.14-0.22% Mn 0.30-0.65% Si ≤ 0.30%S ≤ 0.050P ≤0.045

Grade Q235B contains C 0.12-0.20%Mn 0.30-0.70%Si ≤ 0.30%S ≤ 0.045p ≤0.045 (with the consent of the demander, the carbon content may not be greater than 0.22%)

Grade Q235C contains C ≤0.18% Mn 0.35-0.80% Si ≤ 0.30%S ≤ 0.040p ≤0.040

Grade Q235D contains C ≤0.17% Mn 0.35-0.80% Si ≤0.30% S ≤ 0.035p ≤0.035

②ASTM 36 contains C ≤ 0.26%P ≤ 0.04%S ≤ 0.05%Si ≤0.40%

Cu (when copper steel is specified) ≥0.20%

③SS400 contains S ≤0.050% and P ≤0.050%

3. Different mechanical properties of materials:

① The tensile strength of A36 is 58~80 Ksi (about 400~550MPa). The yield strength is 36 Ksi (about 250MPa).

The tensile strength of Q235 is 370~500 MPa, and the yield strength is 235MPa

The tensile strength of SS400 is 400~510 MPa, and the yield strength is 245MPa.

4. (The mechanical properties of SS400 and Q235 are all based on steel plate thickness less than 16mm.) As can be seen from the above data, ASME standard A36 and China standard Q235 materials are named after the yield strength of the material, while SS400 is named after the tensile strength of the material. From the mechanical property analysis of the material, A36 is equivalent to SS400, while Q235 is worse.

5, A36, SS400 and Q235 substitution: although the mechanical properties of Q235 materials are worse than those of A36 and SS400 materials, in the actual operation process, as long as there is no clear requirement, often three materials can be used for each other.
