Manufacturing and processing
Production method: hot rolling, controlled rolling or normalizing. Processability: excellent in cutting, welding and assembly. Surface quality: divided into FA (standard) and FB (improved) grades, which can tolerate minor flaws such as scratches or minor dents.
Equivalent grades: Q235B (China); SS400 (Japan); A36 (USA).
Comparison with other grades S235J0/J2: Low impact test temperature (0°C and -20°C). Q255/Q275 (China): High carbon content (≥0.18%), high strength but poor weldability.
