wide parallel flange beam A36 W21x147
Material characteristics of A36 steel h beam
Chemical composition: A36 is an American standard carbon structural steel, with carbon content ≤0.28%, manganese 0.80%-1.20%, silicon ≤0.40%, sulfur and phosphorus impurities ≤0.05%, and copper content ≥0.20% (if it is copper-containing steel).
Mechanical properties: yield strength ≥250MPa (up to 345MPa in some scenarios), tensile strength 400-550MPa, elongation ≥20%; low-temperature impact toughness (≥27J at -40℃) and moderate NMness (Brinell NMness HB 137-180), suitable for dynamic load scenarios.
Corrosion resistance: The grain structure is optimized through the normalizing process, and the corrosion resistance to salt spray and humid environment is better than that of ordinary carbon steel.
Specifications of W21x147 h section steel
Sectional dimensions: nominal height 21 inches (533mm), flange width about 8.25 inches (210mm), flange thickness ≥35mm, web thickness ≥20mm; section modulus (Sx) ≥3400cm³, moment of inertia (Ix) ≥180000cm⁴, outstanding bending and shear resistance.
Weight: Theoretical weight is about 147 pounds/foot (218.6kg/m), the unit weight is relatively high, suitable for large-span load-bearing structures.
A36 W21x147 h shaped steel application areas
Super high-rise buildings: used for core tube support columns and transfer layer main beams, bearing vertical loads and wind vibration loads.
Heavy bridges: large-span bridge main beams and pier structures, fatigue resistance meets long-term dynamic load requirements.
Industrial facilities: heavy-duty plant trusses, port crane rail beams, adapt to high impact and complex load environments.
Energy equipment: oil drilling platform frames, wind power tower connectors, corrosion resistance to extend service life.
