Low Alloy Steel Product Description
High strength low alloy steel (HSLA) is an alloy steel that has better mechanical properties or greater corrosion resistance than carbon steel.
High strength low alloy steel plates have a carbon content between 0.05 and 0.25% to maintain formability and weldability. Other alloying elements include up to 2.0% manganese and smaller amounts of copper, nickel, niobium, nitrogen, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, calcium, rare earth elements, or zirconium.
Because hsla structural steel has higher strength and toughness, it typically requires 25 to 30 percent more power to form than carbon steel.
