Tantalum alloy Products Description
ASTM FF560 Tantalum Round Bar, superconducting and ductile, has low thermal expansion, high temperature strength, and high capacitance. Tantalum is a lustrous, silver-colored metal that is heavy, dense, ductile, and ductile when pure. It is found in small amounts in minerals (usually with niobium) and is separated by conversion to the oxide and fluorine complex K2TaF, from which the pure metal is then obtained by electrolysis.
Due to the formation of an oxide film, Tantalum is extremely resistant to corrosion and acids (except HF). At high temperatures, it reacts with molten alkalis and various non-metals. Tantalum can be used in laboratory equipment as a substitute for platinum, which must have good corrosion resistance, and for similar reasons the metal is also used in the chemical industry.
