A572-50 Steel Channel
A572Gr.50 steel channel, commonly known as structural steel channel, is a hot-rolled carbon steel shape widely used in building and engineering applications. It conforms to the ASTM A572 Grade 50 standard, which specifies the mechanical properties and chemical composition of high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) structural steel.
The chemical composition of A572 Gr. 50 channel c steel typically contains the following elements
Carbon (C): ≤ 0.20%
Manganese (Mn): 0.70% - 1.30%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.030%
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.030%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.40%
Copper (Cu): Optional, up to 0.40% if specified
Mechanical Properties
Yield Strength: 50 ksi (345 MPa) minimum
Tensile Strength: 65 - 85 ksi (450 - 585 MPa)
Elongation: ≥ 18% for plates > 2 inches thick; ≥ 20% for thinner plates
Reduction of Area: ≥ 40%
Applications
