Products Description
A242 Corten Steel Pipe is a high-strength low-alloy structural steel pipe with excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance. Compared with carbon steels with or without copper addition, the weathering performance of A242 Corten Steel Pipe is significantly better.
During long-term outdoor exposure, it naturally develops a dense protective rust layer on the surface, which not only enhances durability but also provides a unique and attractive appearance.

The pipe offers outstanding mechanical properties with a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (approx. 345 MPa), a minimum tensile strength of 70 ksi (approx. 485 MPa), and a minimum elongation of 21%.
Available thickness ranges from 0.1875–0.750 inches and 0.751–1.500 inches, with certain specifications offering 46 ksi yield strength and 67 ksi tensile strength

Application
ASTM A242 Corten Steel Pipe is widely used in both industrial and architectural fields. The pipe has a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (approx. 345 MPa), a minimum tensile strength of 70 ksi (approx. 485 MPa), a minimum elongation of 21%, and a thickness range covering 0.1875–1.500 inches, making it suitable for various structural load-bearing requirements.
The most common application of A242 Corten Steel Pipe is in the construction of bridges and other elevated structures. For example, in certain pedestrian bridge designs, just six pipes with a diameter of more than 300 mm are sufficient to safely support pedestrian traffic.
In addition, A242 pipes are also widely used in building facades, overpasses, and landscape architecture, where their naturally formed protective rust layer allows a service life of over 30 years while maintaining a mild and rustic aesthetic appeal.
