A572Gr60 H-shaped steel belongs to the ASTM A572 series of high-strength low-alloy structural steels. "Gr60" indicates that the steel has a yield strength of 60 ksi.

 

Mechanical properties of A572Gr60 h shaped beam
Yield strength: 60 ksi (about 414 MPa).
Tensile strength: ≥520 MPa, usually between 70-90 ksi (about 485-620 MPa).
Elongation: 16% minimum elongation for 8 inches (≤200 mm) and 18% minimum elongation for 2 inches (50 mm).
Impact temperature: -20°C, indicating good performance in low temperature environments.

 

Chemical composition of A572Gr60 h section steel beams
Carbon (C): 0.26%-0.35%.
Silicon (Si): 0.93%-1.20%.
Manganese (Mn): 0.80%-1.10%.
Phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S): both do not exceed 0.04%.
Chromium (Cr): 0.75%-1.20%.
Other alloying elements such as nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) have lower contents.
