SS400 Galvanized Steel H Shape Beam
SS400 H-beams are typically produced by hot rolling, where the steel is heated above its recrystallization temperature and formed into an H-beam. After rolling, the steel beams are galvanized.
Galvanizing SS400 H-beams involves applying a layer of zinc to them to protect them from corrosion. The most common method is hot-dip galvanizing, where the steel is immersed in molten zinc at about 450°C (842°F). The process forms a metallurgically bonded zinc coating that acts as a sacrificial anode, protecting the steel underneath even if the coating is scratched. The zinc coating increases the durability and lifespan of the H-beam, especially when used outdoors or in wet environments.
When SS400 steel is formed into an H-beam and galvanized, it combines the inherent properties of the steel with enhanced corrosion resistance, making it suitable for a variety of demanding environments.
