34CrNiMo6 / 1.6582 Steel is a heat treatable, low alloy steel,used for a wide range of engineering parts. It is capable of being heat treated to produce a typical tensile strength of 1000 -1200 N/mm² which combined with good ductility and resistance to shock. It also has good hardenability,enabling it to be used for medium tensile strengths in fairly large sections, and attain good wear resistance,good impact property at low temperatures.this material is readily machinable so that the components can be put into service without the cost of further treatment,and also can be supplied in the annealed condition which require hardening and tempering but give increased machinability.it is often supplied in the hardened and tempered condition with hardness 28-34HRC.

5.Heat Treatment of 34CrNiMo6 Engineering Steel
Quenched and Tempered (Q+T) of 34CrNiMo6 Steel
Heat 34CrNiMo6 round steel slowly to the temperature of 850°C;
Soak at this hardening temperature quench in oil;
Temper as soon as 34CrNiMo6 steels reach room temperature.
Heat uniformly to the suitable temperature;
Withdraw from the furnace and cool in the air.
The usual tempering temperature is 600°C which depending on the actual requirements.
6.Forging of DIN 34CrNiMo6 / 1.6582 Steel
Hot forming temperature: 1100-900oC.
7.Machinability of Steel 34CrNiMo6
Machining is best done with this 1.6582 alloy steel in the annealed or normalized and tempered condition. It can be machined by all conventional methods.
8.Welding
The alloy materials can be fusion or resistance welded. Preheat and post heat weld procedures should be followed when welding this alloy by established methods.
9.Application
EN DIN 34CrNiMo6 steel is used to make tools which demands good plasticity and high strength. It is usually selected to make the big size and important parts, such as heavy machinery axle,turbine shaft blade, high load of transmission parts, fasteners, crank shafts, gears, as well as heavily loaded parts for motor construction etc.

1.What is a round bar used for?
Round bar is a steel bar with a smooth surface which is used for construction that does not request high-strength reinforced concrete works. It is widely used on beam and column stirrups, pipelines, roads, small and medium-sized projects.
2.What is the difference between a round bar and a rod?
Round bars often possess higher tensile strength and hardness, making them suitable for load-bearing applications. Meanwhile, rods offer increased flexibility and are more malleable, catering to intricate designs and bending requirements.
3.What does a round bar look like?
Round Bar is a cylindrical metal bar with a circular cross-section. It is one of the most common and versatile forms of metal stock, used in various applications across different industries.
4.What is stronger, round bar or square bar?
Which bar is stronger, a steel square bar or a round bar? Both bars are strong, but a steel square bar offers better load-bearing capacity in static applications, while a round bar is more suitable for dynamic applications that involve rotational movement.
5.Can bar stock be welded?
Friction welding provides a high-strength, cost-effective solution to join bar stock sections together. The result is complete metal fusion without the need for fluxes, fillers, gasses, or an external heat source.
