Products Description
Chrome-moly alloy metal with exceptional strength and temperature resistance is ASTM A335 P91. It is a creep strength improved ferritic because it is designed for increased creep strength (CSEF).
To create this metal, it is normalized at 1050 °C, air-cooled to 200 °C, and then heated to 760 °C to temper it. The primary cause of P91's creep strength and durability is this process. P91 denotes the metal's 9 percent chromium, 1% molybdenum, and vanadium makeup. The chromium boosts oxidation resistance and thermal strength.
The elasticity, wear resistance, and high temperature creep strength are all improved by the molybdenum. Ferritic alloy steel with exceptionally high strength characteristics that do not degrade over time and are resistant to creep is A335/SA335 P91. According to its chemical make-up, it is also known as 9 Cr 1 Mo steel or chrome moly pipe.
Grade P91 is stronger than its forerunners, the T22 or P22 grade. Additionally, because the oxidation temperature limitations are higher, elements can be designed with less thickness.

As a result, engineers can elevate the operating temperature to a greater level, enhancing efficiency and giving their products a nearly 10-fold higher thermal fatigue life. For its durability at high temperatures and strength, P91 is best suited for cyclical plants like combined cycle plants.
Additionally, the thinner form is advantageous for HRSGs because the temperature head is constrained and coil placement in the heat transfer channel is crucial.
Most frequently, P91 permits a wall thickness reduction of at least a 2-to-1 ratio. A thinner wall results in lighter hanger loads requires less welding time and utilizes less filler metal. The high chromium content of this steel makes these benefits possible.
For fusion welding as well as bending, flanging (vanstoning), and other related forming processes, A335/SA335 P91 is appropriate. P91 is most frequently used in the petrochemical and power industries, where gases and liquids must travel under conditions of incredibly high pressure and temperature.
