There are several common surface treatments for H - beam steel. Galvanization, either hot - dip or electro - galvanizing, is widely used. Hot - dip galvanization involves immersing the H - beam in a molten zinc bath, forming a thick, durable zinc layer on the surface. This layer provides excellent corrosion resistance by acting as a sacrificial anode, protecting the underlying steel from rusting, especially in outdoor and marine environments. Painting is another popular treatment. Different types of paints, such as epoxy and polyurethane, can be applied to meet various requirements. Epoxy paint offers good chemical resistance and adhesion, while polyurethane paint provides excellent weather resistance and a decorative finish. Powder coating is also used, where dry powder particles are electrostatically applied and then cured to form a hard, uniform coating, offering both corrosion protection and aesthetic appeal.
