S355JR (European) and Q355B (GB) channels have minimal mechanical differences, with most parameters overlapping for substitution:

Yield Strength: Both have 355 MPa (≤16 mm), reducing to 345 MPa (16–40 mm) and 335 MPa (40–63 mm). This ensures identical load capacity-e.g., a UPE 200 S355JR and GB C200x75x7 Q355B both support ~25 kN/m bending load for a 6-meter span.

Tensile Strength: S355JR (470–630 MPa) and Q355B (470–630 MPa) have identical ranges, so both withstand the same maximum stress before fracture-critical for dynamic loads (e.g., wind, seismic activity).

Elongation: S355JR (21% min over 50 mm) vs. Q355B (22% min over 50 mm). The 1% difference does not impact ductility; both grades can be bent, punched, and welded without cracking.

Impact Toughness: Q355B (34 J at 0°C) vs. S355JR (27 J at +20°C). For cold regions (e.g., northern China), S355J0 (27 J at 0°C) bridges this gap, ensuring no brittle fracture risk.

These alignments mean S355JR channels perform identically to Q355B in 90% of Chinese applications, with only minor grade adjustments for extreme climates.
