A valid I-beam material certificate (or Mill Test Report, MTR) is a legally binding document that must include:
Order/buyer details: Buyer name, order number, delivery address, and purchase order reference.
Product specs: I-beam dimensions, grade, heat number, quantity, and length per piece.
Mechanical properties: Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation percentage, and impact test results (e.g., Charpy V-notch values at -20°C or 20°C).
Chemical composition: Percentages of elements like carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and alloying elements (e.g., chromium, nickel for high-strength grades).
Testing standards: References to testing methods (e.g., ASTM E8 for tensile tests, EN 10002-1 for mechanical testing).
Inspection results: Confirmation of visual inspection (no cracks, warping) and dimensional checks (within standard tolerances). For critical applications, non-destructive testing (NDT) results (ultrasonic, magnetic particle) are included.
Authorization: Signature of the mill's quality control manager and date of issuance, validating the report's accuracy.
This certificate is essential for customers to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
