The grade designation follows the Chinese standard GB/T 1591. Breaking down the marking: "Q" stands for yield strength ("Qu" in Chinese), "355" indicates the minimum yield strength in MPa at thicknesses ≤ 16mm, and "B" signifies the quality grade, which relates to impact toughness testing temperature (20°C) and specific chemical composition limits. This grade is a key successor to the older Q345 grade, offering improved strength and weldability.
