430 stainless round bar (ASTM A276; GB 10Cr17) is a ferritic stainless steel with a chemistry focused on cost-effectiveness over corrosion resistance: 16.0–18.0% chromium (Cr), ≤0.12% carbon (C), ≤1.00% manganese (Mn), ≤0.75% silicon (Si), and no nickel-unlike austenitic grades like 304.
The high chromium content provides moderate corrosion resistance in dry environments but struggles with chloride-rich settings. Its mechanical properties include 450–600 MPa tensile strength, 205 MPa yield strength, and 20% elongation, making it suitable for decorative trim, kitchen utensils, and automotive trim-applications where appearance matters more than extreme corrosion resistance. 430 is 30–40% cheaper than 304, with Made-in-China listings marketing it as "430 Stainless Round Bar-Economical Decorative Grade."
