S355JR UPE/UPN channels have a modulus of elasticity (E) of 210 GPa (210,000 MPa) at room temperature-standard for structural steels.

Modulus of elasticity measures stiffness, determining how much a channel deflects under load. For example, a 6-meter UPE 200 channel supporting a 10 kN/m load deflects ~10 mm, calculated using E=210 GPa. Unlike yield strength, E is a material constant, not affected by section size or work hardening, ensuring consistent deflection predictions. Engineers rely on this value to meet deflection limits (e.g., preventing cracking in attached drywall), a key requirement for occupant comfort and structural integrity. EN 10025-2 does not mandate E testing, as it is a well-established property for S355JR.
