Galvanizing applies a protective zinc coating to prevent corrosion. Zinc acts as a sacrificial anode, corroding preferentially to the underlying steel. The most common and robust method for angles is Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG), where the cleaned steel is immersed in a bath of molten zinc (~450°C). This produces a thick, metallurgically bonded coating that provides excellent long-term corrosion protection, even in exposed outdoor environments.
What is the purpose of galvanizing carbon steel angles, and what is the common method?
