60Si2MnA round steel (GB/T 1222) is a high-silicon spring steel with properties optimized for railway rail fasteners (e.g., clips and washers):
Tensile strength: 1275–1570 MPa after quenching (870°C) and tempering (410°C), ensuring fasteners retain clamping force to secure rails under train loads.
Yield strength: ≥1175 MPa, resisting permanent deformation from repeated vibrations (300+ km/h high-speed trains).
Fatigue strength: ≥500 MPa for 10⁷ cycles, enabling 10+ years of service without failure.
Hardness: 45–50 HRC, balancing wear resistance (to withstand rail movement) and ductility (to avoid brittle cracking).
Its chemistry (0.56–0.64% C, 1.50–2.00% Si, 0.60–0.90% Mn) enhances elastic limit and fatigue resistance, making it equivalent to ASTM 9260A (USA). 60Si2MnA is the primary material for Chinese high-speed railway fasteners, with production exceeding 500,000 tons annually.
