XM-19 (ASTM A276; UNS S20910) is a nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless round bar with properties for high-wear applications:

Tensile strength: 860–1030 MPa, significantly higher than 316L's 485 MPa, due to nitrogen solid-solution strengthening.

Hardness: 25–30 HRC (annealed), with work-hardening to 40 HRC-providing excellent wear resistance in sliding applications.

Corrosion resistance: Superior to 304, with good resistance to sulfuric acid and saltwater.

Impact toughness: ≥60 J at -196°C, making it suitable for cryogenic wear applications like LNG valves.

XM-19 is used in pumps, valves, and conveyor systems-applications requiring both wear resistance and corrosion resistance. It is more expensive than 316L but offers longer service life in high-wear environments, justifying the cost premium.

These entries continue to highlight the specialized nature of round steel grades, each engineered to meet precise performance criteria across industries from cryogenics to defense, demonstrating the material's indispensable role in modern manufacturing.
