What is Steel Angle Bar?
Steel angles are used for various purposes in a number of industries. Framing is one of the most common uses for steel angles, but steel angles are also used for brackets, trim, reinforcements, and many other uses. The larger the steel angle, the more weight and stress it can bear.
Members of steel trusses don't necessarily have to be angles, you can always use other steel sections. But angles might be preferable for quite a few reasons:
1. Forces in steel trusses aren't considerably large
2. Angles are light in weight; which means lower cost and also reduced dead loads
3. Connections between angles are simple, and fabricated with ease, whether they're bolted or welded
4. Angles offer a wide range of variety as you can use them singly, back to back and star shaped
The main advantage is in the ease of connections when compared to tubular section. They are great for trusses but compression members need to be checked buckling. Tubular sections are stronger but connections are more complex.
