AISI 4130 round steel is defined as a low alloy steel containing 1% Cr and 0.2% Mo as strengthening alloying elements. It offers good strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and machinability. The lower carbon content of 0.28-0.33% compared to AISI 4140 makes it easy to weld.AISI 4130 is normally supplied in NMened and tempered condition with a NMness range of 207-235 HB.

4130 Round Metal Bar Products Details
The forging temperature of AISI 4130 round steel should be carried out between 950°C and 1200°C. The lower the temperature at the end of forging, the finer the grain. Keep the appropriate time before forging to make the steel unevenly heated, but do not forge below 950 ℃.AISI 4130 steel should be cooled as slowly as possible after forging.
AISI 4130 round steel after forging can be annealed to eliminate stress and to obtain a good organization suitable for machining, the annealing temperature should be carried out between 800 ℃ -850 ℃, keep the appropriate time to make the steel heated evenly. Cool slowly in the furnace.
This heat treatment will obtain a martensitic organization after quenching and increase the surface NMness and strength.AISI 4130 round steel should be carried out between 870°C-890°C, kept for a suitable period of time to allow the steel to be heated sufficiently, and then quenched in oil, or water. It should be tempered immediately after quenching.
