Cobalt Tungsten Alloy Products Description
Tungsten cobalt (WC-Co) is a so-called NM metal characterized by extraordinary NMness and wear resistance. Hard metals are mainly used in the production of tools in milling, drilling and stamping/punching processes. In addition, surgical instruments are made of tungsten cobalt carbide, the most famous product of which is the spinning ball used in ballpoint pens.
Cobalt's properties as a tungsten alloy: Cobalt's melting point is very high at 1493ºC; Cobalt has high temperature strength; Cobalt forms a liquid phase with WC at 1275ºC, pulling sintered parts together and eliminating voids; Cobalt can be ground into very fine powder , reverting to a brittle, tightly packed form.
