Carbon A36 I Beams
Carbon A36 I Beams Products Production Process
The production process of A36 I-beam includes several stages such as smelting, continuous casting and rolling. Process conditions such as electric arc furnace or converter are used in the smelting stage to ensure the purity and compositional accuracy of the steel. During the continuous casting process, proper cooling rate and billet temperature are essential to ensure the internal organisation and mechanical properties of the billet. The rolling process ensures that the steel plate reaches the desired thickness and properties by precisely controlling the rolling process and temperature.
Carbon A36 I Beams Products Applications
- Chemical composition: The chemical composition of A36 I-beam is precisely controlled, and the main elements include carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S), as well as a small amount of copper (Cu) and other elements. The specific content is as follows: carbon content of not more than 0.28%, silicon content of not more than 0.4%, manganese content of 0.6% to 0.9%, phosphorus and sulfur content are controlled at 0.04% and 0.05% below.
- Mechanical properties: the A36 I-beam exhibits high mechanical properties, including:
Yield strength: not less than 250MPa, sometimes the data indicates around 240MPa, and may decrease with the increase of material thickness.
Tensile strength: between 400 and 550 MPa.
Elongation: usually greater than or equal to 20%, indicating that the material has good ductility and deformability during stretching.
Impact toughness: the ability to resist impact loads at low temperatures without brittle fracture.
