The difference between H-beam and I-beam

Section shape
H-shaped steel: The section shape of h section steel is similar to the letter "H", and the inner and outer sides of the flange are perpendicular to the web. The flange width is large and symmetrical inside and outside, and the web thickness is thick. The section height and width ratio is relatively uniform.

I-shaped steel (also known as I-shaped steel):
The section shape of metal i beam is similar to the letter "I", and the inner and outer sides of the flange are inclined (usually 45 degrees). The flange width is small, the inner and outer sides are asymmetrical, and the web is relatively thin. The section height is usually greater than the width.

Mechanical properties
H-shaped steel: h shaped steel has high bending resistance and good overall stiffness. It is suitable for occasions requiring high bearing capacity and stability. Since the inner and outer sides of the flange are perpendicular to the web, the h beam metal can better disperse stress when subjected to force and improve the stability of the overall structure.

I shaped beam: structural i beam has strong bending resistance and is suitable for beams, columns, support frames, etc. in general building structures. Since the inner and outer sides of the flange are inclined, the i metal beam exhibits good mechanical properties when subjected to bending loads.

Processing and Use
H-shaped steel beam: The processing is relatively complicated and the cost is relatively high. It is suitable for large steel structure projects such as high-rise buildings and bridges. When installing, you need to pay attention to its large size and weight.

I shaped steel beam: The processing is relatively simple and the cost is low. It is suitable for small and medium-sized building structures and mechanical equipment manufacturing. It is easy to install and has strong adaptability.

Application Fields
H-shaped steel beam: It is widely used in high-rise buildings, large-span bridges, heavy machinery manufacturing and other fields. It is suitable for structural parts that require high strength and high stability.

I-shaped steel beam: It is mainly used for ordinary building structures, light mechanical equipment, cable trays, shelves, etc. It is suitable for structural parts with general load-bearing requirements.
