C45 round bar is a non-alloy medium carbon steel and a general purpose carbon engineering steel.
C45 round metal rod is a medium strength steel with good machinability and excellent tensile properties. C45 round bar is usually supplied in black hot rolled or occasionally in normalized condition, in both conditions, C45 solid steel round bar has a tensile strength range of 570 – 700 MPa and a Brinell NMness range of 170 – 210.
C45 solid round bar steel is suitable for manufacturing parts such as gears, bolts, general purpose shafts and axles, keys and studs.

C45 Round Bar Steel Grade Heat Treatment:
| Forging or hot rolling: | 1100 – 850°C |
| Normalising: | 840 – 880°C/air |
| Soft annealing: | 680 – 710°C/furnace |
| Hardening: | 820 – 860°C/water, oil |
| Tempering: | 550 – 660°C/air |
