1045 round bar is ideal for most machining techniques. 1045 round steel has a smooth surface and precise overall dimensions. 1045 is a medium carbon steel used where higher strength and NMness than "as rolled condition" is required. Extremely high dimensional accuracy, straightness and concentricity minimize wear in high-speed applications. Commonly used on gears, shafts, axles, bolts, studs and machine parts.
