Nickel 200 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance making it ideal for use in many chemical environments. Nickel 200/201 performs well in reducing, neutral and oxidizing media. The alloy's ability to form a passive oxidation film provides the basis for its excellent performance in corrosive environments. Nickel 200/201 is often used in alkaline environments and has varying degrees of application in sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, anhydrous hydrofluoric acid and non-oxidizing organic acids. It is resistant to stress corrosion cracking in chloride salts and attack by non-oxidizing halides. However, the corrosion resistance of alloys in specific environments is affected by concentration and temperature.
