ASTM A387 hsla steel is an alloy steel plate covering chromium molybdenum pressure vessels. The introduction of chromium molybdenum in A387 low alloy steel increases the temperature tensile strength of the material, making it an excellent choice for high temperature environments.
The more common areas of application for SA 387 low alloy steel material are in certain areas of refineries, power plants and chemical plants where ambient temperatures are high.
SA 387 high strength low alloy steel These grades may be designated as Grade 1 or Grade 2. Also available in normalized and tempered or annealed conditions. The annealing process is Class 1 characterized and "softens" the steel, thereby improving formability.
In addition, A387/SA387 high strength low alloy is also used in boilers and pressure vessels.
