ASTM A6 I-beams
ASTM A6 I-beams Products Components
The chemical composition of ASTM A6 I-beams includes:
Carbon (C): 0.60 - 0.70%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.40%
Manganese (Mn): ≤ 0.40%
Chromium (Cr): 1.30 - 1.60%
Molybdenum (Mo): ≤ 0.30%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.03%
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03%
These chemical compositions give A6 I-beams excellent NMness and wear resistance, as well as good toughness and heat resistance.
ASTM A6 I-beams Products Production Process
The heat treatment process for ASTM A6 I-beams is critical to their performance and consists of the following key steps:
Preheating: 649°C
Austenitizing: Salt bath at 829°C, controlled atmosphere furnace at 843°C, austenitizing time 5 to 15 minutes
Cooling: air-cooled
Tempering: 204°C
These heat treatment steps ensure that A6 I-beams achieve the required NMness and toughness.
