ASTM A542 Tempered and NMened chromium-molybdenum, chromium-molybdenum-vanadium, and chromium-molybdenum-vanadium-titanium-boron alloy steel plates for pressure vessels.
A542 is available in five grades or grades. They are: Grade A, Grade B, Grade C, Grade D, and Grade E. Of these, A542 Grade E requires (quench + temper) heat treatment to meet the performance requirements in the standard ASTM A-542/A-542M.
