ASTM A543 / A543M Nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel plates for use under NMened and tempered conditions in the manufacture of welded pressure vessels and other pressure equipment. These alloy compositions are typically used for structures involving plate thicknesses of 2 inches or greater.
A543 Boiler Plate Steel is classified as having two categories, B and C, with grades 1, 2, and 3. In addition, the maximum plate thickness is limited only by the ability of the chemical composition to meet specified mechanical property requirements, with a minimum plate thickness of 1 inch (5 mm).
