Pressure Vessel Steel Plate Description
ASTM A516 specification is the standard specification for carbon steel pressure vessel plates for medium and low temperature applications and is suitable for welded pressure vessels requiring improved notch toughness. ASTM A516-70 and ASME SA516-70 steel plate products are made from carbon manganese steel and meet pressure vessel quality (PVQ) standards specified in ASTM A20/ASME SA20.
ASTM A516 GR.70 container steel, trade name PVQ steel plate, is very popular in various industrial applications. These boards are also available in other grades such as 60, 55 and 65. In addition, these plates are often used in the manufacture of low- and medium-range boilers, pressure vessels, and various processing equipment.
